I can honestly say that recently, I've been completely detached from everything that's going on in the fashion world. It's interesting that something that used to be so fundamental in my daily life, flicking through magazines, browsing blogs and reading article after article, has suddenly vanished. It's not that I've started to dislike fashion at all, I'm still studying it now as one of my A Levels, and I do still read the occasional article, but I think perhaps it's become lost on me, for the moment at least.

Besides that, it's my birthday in 20 days!

Back to school again. First three weeks of college have begun and I'm enjoying most of it. [I began writing this literally about ten minutes before I had to leave to collect a close friend of mine from Dublin who was staying with me over the weekend, so I didn't end up posting this, but I'll continue anyhow.. ]

During the summer I think I changed quite a bit, not in the 'I had an epiphany' sense but in what I want to do, what I feel I should be doing and definitely who my friends are (ahhh such a teenager). Right at the beginning of July I met a lot of people at a friend of a friend's gig and instantly spent the next three weeks staying in London with them barely making it back to quaint little Weybridge for a cup of tea and Bowie with mother. I know I've learnt a lot too, chosen to say yes, possibly one of the best decisions I've ever made. You forget how incredibly different your life could become at the use of such a word, I dread to think what I'd be like right now if I hadn't. Perhaps I wouldn't have become so extremely into Politics as much as I have recently, left the idea of Fashion aside whilst I pursue something I feel has more substance, more room for me to explore and maybe even grow in? I hate phrases like that, they sound so teacher-y "Rebekah is growing in her knowledge". The reason I'm posting this, I think, is because perhaps it will change the 'design' of this blog, when I swap my Vogue subscription for New Statesman or Vanity Fair (more probable seeing as it encompasses Politics and Fashion). The next two years will reveal what it is I really want to do, but at the moment I'm looking into International Politics and Journalism (writing, always still writing) and don't see myself changing my path much, but who knows. I'm just really appreciative of the people I have around me and the opportunities I will have.

My favourite of the six covers. LOVE Magazine has without a doubt become my favourite magazine, at least for the moment, no longer the Vogue girl - shock horror!

Being that it's summer, I've been catching up with, as well as meeting, a lot of people; friends, family and people you feel you should know but can't quite grasp where from. The same questions get asked over and over, especially when interests are brought up. So, I thought I'd do a bit of an FAQ on on here:

Where are you from?

I was born, and live, in London but my mother is Irish and father Serbian. Known to most of my friends as Serbian, I guess I seem to be more in touch with that side to people? Or it's just different so people remember it...

What do you want to do at uni/in the future?

Ideally I'd love to get an internship at newspaper or magazine as soon as possible and pave my way into my journalistic writing career. However, things don't always turn out as you'd like so obviously I'm looking into university as well, my main focus being Journalism College at Columbia or NYU, perhaps English degrees, depending on what happens in the next couple of years. I'm just about to start college and study English Language, Fashion, Government & Politics and Film Studies.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?

London will always always always be my home and ending up here is definitely a large possibility but I can definitely see myself living in New York, especially to study. Something that also really appeals to me is France, I went on a road trip through France last year and fell in love, could easily grow old there. I want to travel and see as much as possible, and, at least for now, won't hold myself down anywhere.

The rest I feel are probably too personal or boring to post. I'm also sure I've forgotten many of what I had planned, perhaps I should start writing things down...

I haven't blogged for a long while because I've been pretty busy this summer and have spent 95% of my time in Central London. I live in the suburbs of this once glorious city, now poisoned by a percentage of people who have set various places alight for a reason unbeknown to all. I can't describe how lucky I am to live where I do right now, many of my friends are literally doors down from burning buildings and looted shops all over the city. More so than anything, it angers me that this happens to supposedly 'rebel against the government for disregarding poor people' when it will inevitably end up in the country having to pay this all back. The spread of the riots to Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Buckinghamshire and anywhere else in the country, allegedly caused by social media, fills me with disgust for the country I have lived in my whole life.

Please keep safe. My thoughts are with anyone effected by the riots, look after yourselves and keep your closest informed.

Ok, so I have been very bad and completely neglected my blog and in a lot of ways the internet for a couple of weeks, and well... posted nothing. But I have excuses! I've replaced my blogging and Facebook use with a much busier tactile social life and PROM. Above is a picture of me and my beautiful friend Libby Desborough at our school prom last Wednesday. I'm wearing a dress by ASOS, shoes by Deena & Ozzy at UO and holding (later wearing) an old Zara jacket and vintage clutch. Libby, not being one for conformity, is looking rather dapper in a teddy boy jacket, skinnies and beautiful shoes (I'm not quite sure where she got anything from, sorry). Anyway, I decided not to opt for the Molly Ringwald look and go for something more me, not quite prommy either, but I had a brilliant time and it was incredibly lovely to see everyone so dressed up. I hope you've all enjoyed the past few weeks as much as I have and in case I break more promises in updating more frequently...

I have become voluntarily bedridden for the past couple of days since we've finally gone on study leave, despite me only having four exams left, and my night life seems to have become increasingly active (because I'm such a popular cool kid). Anyway, I've spent the past couple of days, when not sleeping, looking through loads of interior magazines and blogs and I thought I'd share some of my favourites from Solid Frog a really interesting 'inspiration' blog. My dad being in architecture I was taught from a very young age to appreciate the 'history of every building' but really I just learnt to appreciate aesthetics, I guess that's better than nothing... and much like Papa I have an obsession? with large windows and white walls. I think, once I have a decent amount of money, I will decorate my place(s) a lot like the spaces above. Being a sixteen year old (living at home of course) all I am deemed is my bedroom which at the moment consists of winebox shelves overflowing with books, my really quite pretty wooden desk and cabinets hidden under magazines, papers and various items of clothing I will-get-round-to-fixing-in-a-minute; so I haven't really got to making it look presentable to myself, let alone others. For now, I think I'll just add to my magazine piles and look at homes and spaces I wish I lived in, as it would be a lot more practical than what I've created for myself right now.

It's incredible how everything seems to happen at once. Since the age of 4 I have been asked what I want to be, obviously early on replying with nothing more than "A vampire" and later "Radio DJ", finally deciding aged 11 that I was completely in love with fashion, from then on writing, journalism, politics, film, literature, photography, languages... the list goes on. With exams beginning in just over a week, the prospect of me becoming the person I've trained myself to believe I want to be for what feels like my whole life, is actually near. Although I love England, and London, and it will always be my home, a place I have an undeniable connection with; once I reach the age of 18 I will, completely decided now (unless my circumstances change substantially, or I am offered the most amazing job opportunity), leave. At the moment, I have my heart and to a certain extent my head set on New York. Although, when I go I might hate it (y'never know) and could end up in Paris, or Barcelona, or even Bangkok or Tokyo. I have settled my future self in New York mainly because I have watched far too many films and want to end up like Holly Golightly at the end of Breakfast at Tiffany's, and because I have this irritating need to discover new places, maybe also because I am sort of obsessed with the idea of studying at Columbia or NYU. Another thing to add to my list-of-things-relating-Rebekah-to-NYC, all of my favourite television shows are set in the City, coincidence? I think not.

I have been thinking (deep thinking not being something I am very fond of) a lot recently and concluded that I am insanely lucky to have the people I do in my life. The thought of leaving all I have behind to go to a place I don't know, thousands of miles away from 'home' is terrifying, but if I can stay so close to people in Asia or even just Kent, I can handle a jump across the pond, right?

Anyway, that's 2 years from now and who knows what could happen, Earth could get captured by aliens in 4 days. Too far fetched?

I got back from Dublin on Tuesday (pictures of my trip to The Goddess Room, an unbelievable vintage shop my friend Saran works at, to come) and was suddenly hit with the realisation that my first GCSE exam is in a month, now slightly less... and the amount of studying I've done equates to, well nothing. I have decided, to put it a lot more effort for school, or at least enough to end up with decent grades to signify something about the last 5 years of my secondary education. I'm not exactly the most perfect student, but my role model for this extremely dull and what-feels-like-100-years couple of months, is Rory Gilmore and her extremely inspirational attitude to studying; although fictional she is brilliant and I've decided to become optimistic towards the idea of revision rather than heaving out my books and letting out a giant sigh which will inevitably lead to me feeling like school is death and getting nothing done but perhaps listening to Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays on repeat as an expression of my hatred for ev-er-y-thing.

I'll post more when I can or if I've given up with will to carry on.

When I was younger (and admittedly now) one of my biggest 'idols' was Gwen Stefani, I even wore bandanna's and chunky rings for a couple of months thinking I could be one of her Harajuku girls, even though I'm not.. Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2011

I'm not entirely sure what to say about this collection. I love it in a 'Oh my god this is fabulously unbelievable' way but other than that I'm stumped. To me, dare I say it, it's reminiscent of Alexander McQueen's 'Highland Rape' collection ( but pretty and more Louis Vuitton) is it wrong for me to think so? I love that Kate & Naomi walked, especially the concept of Kate with a... CIGARETTE. Can't say that I'd wear much of this collection, if I had the money, but it is beautiful in a strange S&M sort of way.

[For most people] when you're ill, you just sit in bed and watch film after film until you're magically cured. I, however, haven't had time to cure myself and have opted for the "take a lot of pills and get on with it" approach, which I'm not entirely fond of. I have a million deadlines for this week and can't afford to miss any school, but my evenings have been assigned to being super ill. There are two films I watch over&over&over&over&over whenever I'm not feeling the best; one being Notting Hill, and the other; Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. I can't put it any other way than: I am obsessed with Shakespeare. When I was about 10 years old, everyone became crazy about Pokémon, where as I... did so... with Shakespeare. The first play I read, of course, was Romeo and Juliet (even though I had to read it about 8 times before I completely understood what was going on [I was 10 after all]) and although I can't disregard Hamlet or A Midsummer Night's Dream, however cliché it might sound, it is my favourite. It's also the only film that can make me cry every, single, time. Why would I watch an unbearable love story to make me feel better when I'm ill? I don't know, it just does.
